i have walked around the shops in funan and peninsula area. lowest price for d300 i got was $2070. john316 gave me 2100.

then today i got a better price at Lords in lucky plaza. d300 $2050 (just slightly lower haha). but it was actually good, coz just a few shops away gave me high price-$2400. and then, also checked D90 pricing for friend, before gst is $1550 but he ended up with $1550 including gst. maybe coz i said im bringing a friend to buy also. i thought that the d90 has very good price there. Wink

just to give an update here, since its also a crapbox.

Hi Randy

Are you getting the D300? I'm sure, by now, you are very familar what kind of specs. you will be getting such as 51 focus points etc.

I had personally used a D300 before. I found that it is a good camera, for a mid-high end DSLR. To me, other than the weight is slightly heavy, most of the things are good. It's WB is kind of well balanced, ISO is stable.  But one thing, to change from a D70 to D300, you really have to get use to the "both hands" controls as the dial is on the left side and setting such as WB, ISO are on this dial while other settings can be adjust on the right side. The menu is rather complicated for me.
I don't think D300 will stop production, there's no news of other model in this series is coming out.

Some recommanded dealers are MS colour, John 3:16, the camera shop and cathay photo.
Beware and do some market rsearch as some shops at pennisular are out to con people.

Hope this post did help you! Congrates on getting a new DSLR. I whether when is my turn to get a new one. haha.

yea thanx for the input. I got it last thursday for $2050, with 4gb sandisk extreme II and a camera armour. nice deal.

the body is real nice, weight didn't really bother me.. in fact im saving up for a vertical grip to add more weight & make it look better. there are so many function i have yet to try out.
the WB is really great compared to d70.

no regret getting a d300

i paid by nets. 2.05K(include gst) = basically the body only cost 2K and then the CF for $50. i also got a camera body armour which i don't think i'll be using yet. it was the best price i could get. i didnt get a good price in funan or peninsula..they offered 2.1K++ to get freebies.

does the club offer rental of lens for my personal use?
